A new face and no rest for the weary…

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Lehman started out with a new BIG face (you’ll see) and I predict he will be a factor by playoff time.  Hey, you can’t teach size and he got it!!!

It’s very rocky for Monroe (0-2) these days, but its early in the season…

So here is…  Monroe vs Lehman

Friends and rivals…

Principal Cox, Coaches Turnage and Cole (Bingo, that is!) squared off tonight against Coaches Johnny Mathis, Star and the JFK Knights for what was a rematch of last seasons borough championship and will probably be a preview of this years.

The Gaucho Gym, packed house- you know the flavor.  all the usual suspects where there.  And I was sick as a dog. (what does that mean?)  Any way here it is…

Whitfield to Coach at Princeton Claremont Academy

By Josh Barr

Van Whitfield, who created high-profile boys’ basketball teams at Progressive Christian and Southern Maryland Christian the past two seasons, has left Progressive to become the boys’ basketball coach at Princeton Claremont Academy, a new private school in Accokeek.

Princeton Claremont existed as an online school the past two years before moving to an on-campus setting this academic year. The school is currently renting rooms in a learning center to hold classes for about 25 students in grades 9 through 12. Classes began this week. A faculty administrator said the school is in negotiations to rent or buy a larger facility.

Whitfield said that none of his former players will join him at Princeton Claremont.

“It was just time to go,” Whitfield said. “I had another opportunity and I took advantage of it. They’re interested in basketball and I’m interested in starting fresh.”

Whitfield said because Princeton Claremont does not have a gymnasium, his new team would play a schedule of mostly road games against “whoever will play us.”

and so we have..
